The role of the Governors within the school is to challenge and support the Head Teacher in moving the school forward. This includes decision making on financial matters and challenging and questioning issues relating to pupil progress and attainment. The Governors also play an integral role within safeguarding children and Health and Safety of the school site.
Governors for 2016/17
We are always looking for enthusiastic members of the community to contribute to how the school is shaped into the future.
We currently have a vacancy for a Co-Opted Governor (Community Member or Business Person, but not a parent).
If this is of interest to you, we would love to hear from you.
My name is Jackie and I have been a co-opted governor since the start of the present academic year and act as vice-chair, finance and pupil premium governor. I grew up in Kent and consider myself fortunate to have had an outstanding state education culminating in me qualifying as certified accountant. This experience results in my passion to ensure all children have access to high quality education, whatever their background. My career was spent working for large multi-national retail corporations where I gained extensive board level experience. I moved to Somerset after meeting my husband and am now a full time mum to two young children. In my spare time I like to keep fit, garden and use my creative energy doing crafts.
My name is Brian and I became a Local Authority Governor at the end of June 2016. Although originally from Plymouth, I have lived in Somerset since 1988 and very much feel that this is my home now. I am passionate about the invaluable role that education plays in our society and am committed to working as part of our team of Governors to make the School all that it can be and to provide an engaging and rewarding experience for our pupils, which remain at the very heart of what we do.
